El Tejar is the highest house in the pretty, white-washed village of
Montecorto, just to the west of Ronda. From the house there are magnificent views out to the peaks of the Grazalema National Park.
The house is surrounded by a mature garden where a beautiful round swimming pool has been sculpted into the terraced hillside. There are almond, olive and orange trees, bamboo, jasmine, roses and bougainvillea and an enormous palm tree. And although you at the very top of a small village thanks to this exhuberant vegetation you see no other buildings, only the craggy peaks of the distant mountains. There is nothing to disturb your intimacy yet you can wander down to the village shops, bars and restaurants in less than ten minutes.

The house has been featured in many interior design magazines and is decorated in Andalusian and Moroccan style. Base elements of whitewashed beams and terracotta floors have been stylishly combined with warm colour washes. There are hundreds of books and CDs and masses of paintings and framed prints. From the large, beamed dining room steps lead up to a gorgeous sitting room. From here double french windows lead out to a jasmine-clad terrace with a table for al fresco dining. The four bedrooms, all with their own bathrooms, have the same bright, ethnic feel: linen is top of the range, mattresses too, and all are big on space.

A charming housekeeper, Francisca, cleans and tidies every day and can prepare meals for guests, should they wish. If you prefer, the house can be rented without home help.
This is a beautiful, traditional Andalusian house yet it has a full range of creature comforts: CD players in all bedrooms, a computer with 24 hour Internet access, satellite TV and a DVD player, as well as a fully-equipped laundry room.
